Swellable Water Bar

Swellable Water Bar:

Conventional pre-formed water bars used in construction weren’t user-friendly and often failed because they were large and bulky and made concrete pouring difficult. Additionally, they needed to be nailed to the shutters to keep them in place, often resulting in punctures, rendering them ineffective. To overcome these challenges, Sandhya Enterprises has introduced the Swellable Water Bar. This innovative solution is both user-friendly and efficient for construction joints. It works by expanding within the joint after construction when exposed to water, effectively sealing any leaks.

 

Made from neoprene, the Swellable Water Bar can expand up to 250% of its original size when wet. It's simple to use - just nail it into the center of the construction joint before pouring the next layer of concrete

Installation

  • Ensure that concrete is dry, clean and smooth, free from any loose material.
  • Just before you pour the concrete, nail the Sandhya Enterprises water bar at the centre of the construction joint, spaced at intervals of 30 centimere C/C
  • When you are joining one piece of Hydro swell with another one, make sure not to go over the Hydro swell to create a butt joint.
  • The water bars are manufactured with a water retardant coating to guard against premature expansion or the swell of the product. But we still advise against using them in rainy weather.

Product Description

Hydrophilic water stops are a special kind of product that is made of an active sodium bentonite/butyl rubber, which is designed to stop water infiltration through concrete joints. When it comes to contact with water, it forms a positive seal against the concrete. It also helps fill in any cracks and pores in the concrete.

Usage Areas:
Used for concrete joints, and intersections of old and new concrete in the construction of pools, foundations, tunnels, manholes, retaining walls, garages, curtain walls, water deposits, water purification facilities and pipe penetrations into above-mentioned constructions.

Advantages:

  • Hydrophilic water stops are very easy to work with. One person can apply up to 125 meters per hour.
  • The application is easy, even if there is a lot of rebar.
  • Connecting seams is easy just by placing them together side by side and pressing them.
  • Packaged in 48-meter rolls for easy application by one person.

Surface Preparation:
Make sure to keep the surface clean and dry before applying the product. It must not be applied on wet, frozen, greasy, or dusty surfaces and under wet weather conditions.

Application:

  • In vertical and overhead applications, press firmly on the entire length of it onto concrete and make sure to hold it for at least 15 seconds for perfect adherence.
  • After pouring concrete, check whether all the parts of the surface are covered properly, especially for surfaces which are not perfect in shape.
  • If necessary, use a swell-fix primer.
  • Join the coil ends side by side or end to end without overlapping them. Remove the silicon paper and pour concrete carefully and indirectly.

Swellable Water Bar Advantages:

  • Our swellable water bars are user-friendly. All it needs to do is to nail it in position at the center of the construction joint just before pouring concrete.
  • These expanded swellable water bars are very flexible and can absorb all deflection and movements in the structure both during and after construction.
  • These bars are extremely chemical resistant and also resistant to hydrocarbons. It effectively prevents the passability of potable water, hard water, and saline water. Moreover, it can be installed safely with nails.

  • Available size: 25 x 20 mm
  • These water bars can expand freely in distilled water, reaching at least six times its initial volume without losing cohesion.
  • Density: 1.4 gms/CC
  • Hardness: 50 HAD Swelling 300%
  • Mass greater than 1.10 Kilogram per meter.
  • The pressure of swelling greater than 600 KPA after 48 hours and less than 100 KPA after 6 hours.
  • It remains stable in salt solutions and exhibits strong resistance to calcium and magnesium ions.
  • It withstands hydrostatic pressure under continuous immersion and wet/dry cycling conditions.
